KARGIL, Aug 3: Twelve persons were injured in the early hours of today morning when a building in the Kabaddi Nallah area collapsed while an earthmover was working near it.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 AM, prompting an immediate and coordinated response from local authorities and rescue teams. Kargil Police, 121 Brigade of Indian Army, Baseej-e-Imam, Alrizaa Rescue Team, UTDRF, the Municipal Committee team, and 108 ambulance services swiftly initiated rescue operations.

With the prompt efforts of the rescue teams, all injured individuals were safely transported to the District Hospital Kargil for medical treatment. Of those injured, five, including driver of the earthmover, was rescued from under the debris of the building. The rescue operation was led by SSP Kargil.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhone, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shrikant Suse and Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil visited the site to assess the situation. They also visited District Hospital to check the status of the injured. On spot directions were given to the Hospital authorities to provide comprehensive medical care to injured persons.
Meanwhile, an enquiry has been ordered by DM Kargil which will be conducted by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil. Also, an FIR has been filed by Police Station Kargil vide FIR Number 31 U/S 125(a) BNS and investigation is underway. District Administration is in constant touch with injured and relief being provided to them through Red Cross Society.
Further, directions have been issued to MC Kargil as well as Revenue Department to keep strict vigil on similar cases in the vulnerable areas to avoid such incidents in future.
