13th J&K UT Shooting Championship concludes with medal ceremony

JAMMU, Aug 24: The closing ceremony and prize distribution for the 13th J&K UT Shooting Championship took place at the Youth Services and Sports Shooting Range in Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The Championship, which ran from August 17 to August 23, 2024, was held across multiple locations: the DYSS Shooting Range, Mission Olympic Shooting Academy in Jammu, NCC Shooting Range in Nagrota, and the Police Academy in Udhampur.
Organized by the J&K Rifle Association (JKRA) under the auspices of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the event was sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
Competitions were conducted in various pistol events, including the 10m Air Pistol, 25m Sports Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, 25m Centre Fire Pistol, and 50m .22 Free Pistol. Rifle events included the 10m Air Rifle, 50m Rifle Prone, and 50m Three-Position Rifle.
Yasha Mudgal (Commissioner Secretary, Tourism J&K), was the chief guest at the ceremony. She distributed medals to the winners. Mudgal promised support for the promotion and development of shooting sports in J&K. She expressed hope that J&K shooters will continue to bring accolades to the country on the international stage.
Surinder Singh Sodhi (president of J&K Rifle Association and chairman of organizing committee), delivered the welcome address. Sharat Chander Singh (chief executive officer of JKRA and organizing secretary of the championship), provided an overview of the Association’s activities.
Kuldeep Singh Jamwal (chairman, JKRA) presented the vote of thanks. Other notable attendees included Jaipal Singh (Member, Advisory Committee JKRA), Samardev Singh and Ashok Kumar (vice-presidents, JKRA), Arun Mansotra (treasurer, JKRA), Rahul Bakshi, and Baljinder Singh (Divisional Sports Officers of the J&K Sports Council).
The matches were conducted by the Technical Panel of JKRA, comprising Madhupal Singh, Pranav Sambyal, Vijay Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Vishal Mehra, Aman Singh, and Sahil Sharma, under the overall supervision of Rajesh Virdhy (chairman of the Technical Committee, JKRA).
RESULTS
Air Pistol Events: In the Air Pistol Sub Youth Men category, Ridvan Sharma secured the gold representing GZSRC. For the Air Pistol Youth Men, Prabjot Singh bagged gold from GZSRC. Prabjot Singh also dominated in the Junior Men category followed by Prajwal Dev who won silver from MOSAJ. In the Air Pistol Men event, Prabjot Singh again clinched gold while Madhupal Singh from J&K Police Shooting Club earned silver, and Vijay Kumar, also from J&K Police Shooting Club, took bronze.
In the Air Pistol Sub Youth Women category, Yashika of SMVDSB won gold. For the Youth Women category, Pavneet Kour won gold representing GZSRC, followed by Shreya Charak with silver from MOSAJ, and Bhagirathi with bronze, also from MOSAJ. In the Junior Women category, Pavneet Kour again won gold, Shreya Charak secured silver, and Bhagirathi took bronze. In the Air Pistol Women event, Pavneet Kour won gold, Shreya Charak took silver and Bhagirathi earned bronze.
Air Rifle Events: In the Air Rifle Sub Youth Men category, Viraj Koushal from MOSAJ took gold, Kamakshya Dev won silver and Rishav Choudhary from GZSRC secured bronze. In the Youth Men category, Himanshu Gupta achieved gold representing MOSAJ, Samarth Tuli earned silver from SMVDSB, and Anirudh Sharma took bronze from MOSAJ. In the Junior Men category, Himanshu Gupta continued his winning streak with gold, Anirudh Sharma won silver and Sainath Jogdand claimed bronze, all from MOSAJ. For the Air Rifle Men event, Himanshu Gupta and Vishal Sharma won gold and silver, respectively. Shubashish Padha from SMVDSB won bronze.
In the Air Rifle Sub Youth Women category, Katrina Kaif from MOSAJ won gold and Sanskriti Rajput from Aim 10x Shooting Academy won silver. In the Youth Women category, Aneesha of MOSAJ achieved gold, Raveena Jangid from SMVDSB won silver and Katrina Kaif earned bronze. In the Junior Women category, Aneesha won gold, Raveena Jangid secured silver and Shimani Choudhary from MOSAJ took bronze. Finally, in the Air Rifle Women event, Aneesha clinched gold, Raveena Jangid took silver and Shimani Choudhary won bronze.
50 M Rifle Prone Men: Aman Singh from MOSAJ won gold, Avinash Basotra from J&K Police Shooting Club earned silver and Tarun Dev Singh, also from MOSAJ, took bronze.
