UDHAMPUR, Aug 26: District Police Udhampur today rescued 23 bovine animals by foiling two separate attempts of bovine smuggling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Tikri and Police Station Chenani.
Reports said that a Police team of Police Post Tikri, intercepted a Truck bearing registration number JK20B-8416. During checking, 17 bovines were found loaded inside the Truck in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
Police rescued the animals and arrested the accused driver. In this regards, a case FIR No. 187/2024 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
Meanwhile, a team of Police Station Chenani also foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued six bovines from a vehicle bearing registration number JK14H-4734 at Noti area on Pattangarh to Chenani road . The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
Police rescued all the bovines and seized the vehicle. In this regard, a case FIR No. 135/2024 U/S 223/ BNS 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Chenani.
