SRINAGAR, Sept 13: A fierce gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Kreeri area of Baramulla district tonight.

An official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the Kreeri area after inputs about militant presence in village Chek Tappar in Keeri area of the district.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering a gunfight.
The official said that 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the village. He said that by midnight firing stopped.
