JAMMU, July 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered three additional fake gun licenses today, as they continued their crackdown in the fraudulent license case. This followed previous raids at the residence and other properties of the accused.

On the night of July 24-25, acting on a specific information about one Tirath Singh of Karanbagh allegedly preparing, selling, and storing fake licenses in an under-construction building, police raided the site and seized 417 fake licenses along with other incriminating documents.
Accordingly, an FIR (No. 177/2024) under sections 318(4), 339, 336, 340(2), and 61(2) of the BNSS was registered at Police Station Satwari and the investigation set into motion.
As the investigation in the case proceeded, police claimed that the accused, a retired Army man, allegedly sold the fake licenses to both retired and in-service Army personnel within and outside the UT by colluding with senior Jammu and Kashmir Government officials.
Continuing the investigation, a team of police officers, led by SDPO Jammu South Kartik Shrotriya and supervised by SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, conducted fresh raids today at the accused’s residence and a gun house in Karanbagh.
In the presence of a Magistrate and armed with search warrants, the police team seized three more fake licenses and additional incriminating material.
Further investigations are underway to identify the beneficiaries and Government officials who aided the accused in the license forgery.
