JAMMU, Sept 7: The 5th Jammu District Yogasana Championship for the year 2024-25 was organized by the Jammu District Yogasana Association at the Indoor Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, here today that saw enthusiastic participation from students across various schools and colleges in the district.
The event, sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by notable dignitaries including Ritika Balloria, Zoha Barkat, Sanjeev Pandey, Ankit Bali, Sandeep Khajuria, Manik, Lokesh Sharma and Aman Gupta, founder of Inara. The guests emphasized the importance of yoga in fostering mental and physical well-being.
The championship witnessed stellar performances in various age categories. Divyesh Sharma (Boys 9-14), Praznath Wangoo (Girls 9-14), and Vidushi (Girls 14-18) emerged as champions in their respective categories. Sahil Singh (18-28), Nitika, and Divya Gupta (28-30) also delivered outstanding performances, winning top honours. Other notable winners included Mridul Gupta, Athaarav Sharma, Akshra, Chitrangada Rawat, Prince Shivam Sundaram, Brignesh Chalotra, Manbi Sharma, Diksha Sharma, Deepti, Shreeja, Taqdeer, Pallavi Gulati, and Monika Slathia.
The medal and certificate distribution ceremony was presided over by chief guest Vasu Aggarwal (DySP) and guest of honour Kanuj Gupta. Association President Sanjeev Kumar and Secretary Zoha Barkat were also present. The dignitaries commended the participants for their dedication and highlighted the transformative power of yoga in enhancing clarity and self-awareness.
