UDHAMPUR, May 15: Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling to Kashmir and rescued 60 animals besides arresting four smugglers at Chenani.
These animals were being smuggled in four trucks, which were intercepted by a police party, led by SHO Chenani, Charanjeet Singh under the supervision of SDPO Chenani, Ahmad Shafi, during a naka at Zero Point Chenani. During checking, 60 bovine animals were found packed in the trucks bearing registration numbers JK14C-3247, JK14A-6581, JK14B-1098 and JK14G-5690 without any valid permission.
All the 60 bovine animals were rescued and drivers of the trucks were arrested on the spot. They were identifies as Aquib Khan son of Mohd Rafi of Khari Udhampur, Mohd Sabar son of Mohd Dawood of Baggar, Assar, District Doda, Mohd Lateef son of Abdul Aziz of Peera, District Ramban and Arshad son of Hakim Din of Bharat Nagar, Jakheni Udhampur.
In this regards, four cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at PS Chenani and further investigation is underway.
