Hort Deptt to enhance walnut production in Pancheri

JAMMU, Aug 21: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Sevak today directed the field officers of Udhampur area to enhance walnut production in Pancheri area of the district.
During extensive visit of Udhampur district today, the Director paid visited to Govt Fruit Plant Nursery Badola, in Udhampur district. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur and other officers of the department wherein he inspected the mother blocks and nursery beds and issued instructions for production of more than 75% quality true to type fruit plants of citrus at Badola Nursery. He directed the officers for enhancing the production of walnut grafted plants at Meer Nursery, Pancheri and enhance production of walnuts in the entire belt.
He also visited district Kathua wherein he inaugurated the compact high density plantation of mango and citrus covered in an area of 80 kanals at village Dinga Amb and Mahi Chack of zone Hiranagar and Barnoti, respectively, under the scheme Capex. Aloevera plantation at village Janglote, Kathua was also inspected during the tour. Chief Horticulture Officer Kathua, Shushil Kumar Angurana apprised the Director about the progress being made in the various components of the different schemes.
