JAMMU, Jan 20: As a part of ongoing National Road Safety Month, transport unions along with Motor Vehicle Department Jammu, organized a free health cum eye check up camp at ISBT Narwal, here today.
The camp was organized on the directions of Transport Commissioner S Rajinder Singh Tara and it was held under the supervision of RTO Jammu Pankaj Bagotra in collaboration with various Transport Unions.
As many as 300 drivers and conductors participated in the camp and availed the facilities like eye checkup for colour- blindness, defect in eye sight, test to check BP, Diabetes, Hb etc.
Earlier a team from Red Cross Society also imparted First Responder Training to drivers which helped them to handle any urgency.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives from MVD informed the participants that aim of organizing such medical camps is to spread awareness among drivers about significance of personal health and hygiene for welfare of society. They added that such camps will be organized on regular basis in future for the drivers as they hold the responsibility to ensure the safety of passenger so they should often keep their health in good condition and well monitored.
Parvinder Singh Happy, on behalf of transport unions, stressed on drivers to follow traffic regulations strictly for the safety of passengers.
ARTO HQ Rehana Tabassam, ARTO BOI (G) Esha Chib, MVIs of MVD, team of Doctors from CMO Jammu and Red Cross Society, Yougal Gandotra, KD Singh, president 2 by 2; Ranjeet Singh, President Tanker Union ; Inderpal Singh from Manpreet Travels, Rashpal Singh , Robin Singh Baggi, Harasis Singh and representatives from various transport unions participated the event.
