JAMMU, June 29: Shiv Sena (UBT) State Unit has expressed doubts on the intention of the newly formed NDA Government at the Centre regarding returning full Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to the people to come out on the streets in unity for the restoration of their rights.
Addressing a press conference here today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that no positive signals are being received from the Central Government regarding returning full Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, the restoration of democratic process i.e. assembly elections is also not being taken forward beyond verbal statements.
He further said despite the deadline set by the High Court approaching; the dates for the elections are not being announced. Sahni said that about five years ago in August 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories with the promise of returning the status of the State soon. Despite a long gap, no positive signals are being received from the Central Government regarding returning the status of the State. Rather the hopes of getting the status of the State are decreasing due to the decisions of the Central Government.
