UDHAMPUR, July 13: Police Station Udhampur apprehended a bike lifter and recovered stolen bike from his possession while a snatching case was also solved with arrest of the accused and recovery of snatched cash.
Police Station Udhampur received a complaint from one Sham Lal son of Nasib Chand of Mantalai that some unknown thieves had stolen his bike bearing registration number JK14E-4160.
Taking cognizance of the matter, a team headed by SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh rounded up a few suspects. During questioning, one suspect namely Asqer alias Ashu, son of Manjur Rehmat of Chak Rakwal confessed his involvement in the said crime. On disclosure of the accused person, stolen bike was also recovered.
According to Police, the said accused is a habitual offender and 10 FIRs (05 in PS Udhampur and 05 in PS Rehambal) have already been registered against him. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
Meanwhile, based on a complaint lodged by one Dhani Ram of Prey Kultyar, Panchari who reported that someone had snatched his purse containing Rs 24500/- at District Hospital Udhampur, SHO Udhampur developed some leads and succeeded in the arrest of accused person namely Amir Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmed of Sarafa Mohalla, Bhaderwah A/P Sidhra Jammu.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed his crime. On his disclosure, the cash money of the complainant was also been recovered from his possession.
