JAMMU, Aug 6: Dr. Neeraj Lal, son of the soil, has been awarded ‘Branco Weiss Fellowship’ in USA.
Dr. Neeraj hails from Jammu and is grandson of former MLA, Dev Datt Sharma and son of Dr. Meena and Dr. Lal both Ex-CMOs who served NHPC and attained superannuation from there.
As Branco Weiss Fellow, Dr. Neeraj will study hibernating animals in the Arctic to understand the neutral and molecular mechanisms through which these animals accomplish this physiological wonder.
Dr. Lal aims to study the mechanism that allows these to survive in extreme environmental conditions.
A handout stated that this award is given to seven people in the world and Dr. Neeraj is the only Indian and seventh in world to have been given this fellowship.
