JAMMU, Aug 16: The Law School, University of Jammu, organized an interactive session on ‘The Art of Mooting and Advanced Legal Research’ under the guidance of Dr Seema Rohmetra, Director of The Law School.
The session featured Advocate Akshay Gupta, Supreme Court of India, as the speaker. He shared valuable insights on the essential elements of good drafting and speaking skills, which are crucial for effective mooting. He also provided an update on drafting Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) and writ petitions in the Supreme Court, highlighting some exemplary memorials.
In addition, Advocate Gupta informed the participants about various career opportunities available after completing a law degree. However, he stressed the importance of gaining firsthand experience through internships under advocates for those interested in litigation or corporate law.
The session proved to be an enriching experience for the participants, providing them with practical knowledge and expert guidance to enhance their mooting and legal research skills.
The interactive session was a resounding success, with participants actively engaging in the discussion and having their queries addressed through relevant examples and case studies.
The session was coordinated by Dr Monika Bhardwaj, Faculty member of The Law School.
Advocate Akshay Gupta’s insightful presentation was followed by a thoughtful Q&A session, wherein participants benefited from his expertise. The session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr Nitan Sharma.
The event was further enriched by the presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr Upasana Sharma, Dr Rajneesh Khajuria and Dr Vandita Sharma, who actively contributed to the discussion and shared their valuable insights.
