JAMMU, Aug 17: The 13th J&K UT Shooting Championship commenced at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Shooting Range in Gandhi Nagar, here today.
This prestigious event will run for seven days and features 150 registered shooters from various districts and clubs competing across multiple venues, including the DYSS Shooting Range, Mission Olympic Shooting Academy, NCC Shooting Range at Nagrota, and Police Academy Udhampur.
The opening ceremony was led by chief guest Rajinder Singh Tara, Director of Youth Services and Sports, alongside distinguished guests of honour Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director Central Youth Services and Sports J&K, Ravi Kumar, Deputy Director (E&S) Youth Services and Sports J&K, and Sunil Kumar Sharma, Accounts Officer Youth Services and Sports J&K. Rajeev Sharma, Member of J&K Sports Council, also attended.
Tara commended the organizing committee for their efforts and promised full support from the department to ensure the event’s success. He also emphasized the availability of DYSS’s infrastructure for J&K shooters. JKRA President Surinder Singh Sodhi welcomed guests and participants, highlighting the association’s role in elevating shooting sports in J&K. The championship will be conducted by a technical panel under the supervision of Rajesh Virdhy, Chairman of the Technical Committee JKRA.
