JAMMU, Aug 20: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a total of 314.5 grams of heroin and arrested four notorious drug peddlers in separate operations carried out in Nagrota and RS Pura areas.

The seizures also included Rs 1, 98, 400 in cash, and a vehicle was impounded as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle drug supply networks in the region.
In one of the operations, acting on a tip-off, a special naka was established at TCP Nagrota.
There, the alert naka party intercepted a vehicle (HP 33AA-1889), suspected of transporting a consignment of heroin.
During the search of the vehicle, the police party recovered 305 grams of heroin and Rs 1, 98, 400 in cash from the possession of two accused individuals, identified as Khursheed Ahmad Wani, a resident of Lower Munda, Qazigund, and Adil Sharief Dar, a resident of Darpora, Banihal.
Both suspects were arrested on-the-spot, and their vehicle was seized.
A case under FIR number 227/2024 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS was accordingly registered against the duo, with further investigation set into the motion.
In a separate operation, a team of RS Pura Police Station established nakas at Khamb near Asha Rice Mill and Kotli Gala Bana near Brick Kiln.
In the first naka, a suspect identified as Sachin Choudhary, a resident of Langerial, RS Pura, was apprehended, and one gram of heroin was recovered from his possession.
He was booked in case FIR number 178/2024 under sections 8/21/60 NDPS Act registered at Police Station RS Pura.
In the second naka, another suspect, Siraj Din, a resident of Old Agra Chak, RS Pura, was arrested after 8.5 grams of heroin were found in his possession.
A case under FIR number 181/2024 under sections 8/21/60 NDPS Act was registered against him.
Both Nagrota and RS Pura police stations are conducting further investigations to trace the origins of the drug supply chains.
