JAMMU, Sept 3: “Prakriti Vandan”, a vibrant celebration dedicated to environment and an act of gratitude towards Mother Nature was organized by Govt SPMR College of Commerce.
The event, organized with the aim of raising awareness about environmental conservation and fostering a deeper connection between people and nature, witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty and students.
During the event, Bael (Aegle marmelos), Peepal (Ficus religiosa) and Banyan (Ficus benghalensis) trees, considered sacred, were venerated by the Principal, faculty and students of the college. A religious thread was tied around the trees and Haldi coloured rice and flowers were offered to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Rajinder Singh emphasized the critical need for collective action in preserving planet for future generations. He highlighted the importance of individual and community efforts in combating climate change and safeguarding natural resources.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Deepshikha Sharma and Dr Deepak Pathania (NSS Programme Officers) and Dr Esha Abrol (Head, Department of Environmental Sciences). Those present on the occasion included Prof Pawan Gupta, Dr Reena Rani, Dr Ashraf Nawaz, Prof Rekha Gupta, Dr Chetna Gupta, Prof Monika Mahajan, Prof Shaji Khan, Dr Sunal Sharma, Prof Sanjeev Verma, Dr Roomi Rani, Dr Rajni Sharma and Dr Mamta Rani.
