KATHUA, Sept 8: The District Kathua Bench Press Championship 2024-25 was held at Rivaaj Palace, Lakhanpur. Organized under the leadership of Shabeel Ahmad and his dedicated team, the event saw enthusiastic participation from over 90 athletes competing across various categories, including Sub Juniors, Juniors, Seniors and Masters. The competition featured both men and women showcasing their strength and skill.
The highlight of the event was the remarkable performances by Rubham Sharma, who was named the Best Lifter in the men’s category with an impressive lift of over 190 kg, and Konika, who excelled in the women’s category.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Virkant Verma. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of DDC vice President, Raghunandan Singh Jasrotia, who served as the chief guest. Also in attendance were the President of the Kathua Powerlifting Association, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, General Secretary, Shabeel Ahmad, and the event management team. The All J&K Powerlifting Association’s General Secretary, Ajay Sharma, along with his team, also marked their presence. The championship concluded with a medal and prize distribution ceremony, where the efforts of all participants were recognized.
