UDHAMPUR, Sept 8: Police today arrested an inter-state narco smuggler and seized 22 kg poppy straw, which he was smuggling in a vehicle.
Police team from Police Station Udhampur headed by SHO Raghuvir Singh, while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka point Jakhani, National Highway, stopped one Mahindra Scorpio, bearing registration number PB37F-0063 for checking purpose.
During checking, two bags having approximately 22 kg of poppy straw like substance were recovered from the vehicle. Following this, Police arrested driver of the vehicle, identified as Kala, son of Harbans Lal, resident of H. No. 84, village Kotla Janga, tehsil Nakodar, district Jalandhar, Punjab.
Police also seized the poppy straw as well as the vehicles and registered a case in this connection vide FIR No. 374/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act in Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation in the case was going on.
