JAMMU, Sept 10: In an extraordinary demonstration of endurance, three athletes from Jammu-Rajesh Koul, Anshul Choudhary and Sukreet Gupta completed the renowned Ladakh Marathon, overcoming the formidable altitude of 11,155 feet. The trio triumphed over the world’s highest marathon, with Rajesh Koul finishing in 5 hours 2 minutes, followed closely by Anshul Choudhary at 5 hours 22 minutes and Sukreet Gupta at 6 hours 25 minutes, showcasing remarkable physical and mental determination.
The Ladakh Marathon, known for its demanding terrain and thin air, tests even the most seasoned runners, requiring not only physical fitness but also strategic acclimatization. Ravi Sharma, another athlete from Jammu, participated in the 11.2 km category and completed the distance in an impressive 63 minutes.
This annual marathon attracts participants from around the globe, pushing athletes to their limits in the extreme conditions of the high-altitude region. The achievements of Rajesh, Anshul, Sukreet and Ravi stand as a testament to their perseverance, preparation, and unyielding spirit in one of the world’s most challenging races.
