RAJOURI, Sept 18: One person was killed in a road accident in Lam area of Nowshera in district Rajouri late this evening.
Official sources said that a road accident occurred at Darungi Nala in Lam area under Nowshera police jurisdiction at around 8:30 pm tonight, in which a Scooty driver died.
He was identified as 45-year-old Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Mohammad Bashir, a resident of Lam. He was going towards Lam on a Scooty. He lost balance at a turn in Darungi Nala and fell into a gorge along with the Scooty.
He was seriously injured in the accident. The local people evacuated him and took to the hospital, but he died on the way.
BMO Nowshera Dr Iqbal Malik said that on reaching Nowshera hospital, the doctor declared him as brought dead.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter and has kept the body in the mortuary and after conducting the post-mortem and completing other formalities, the body will be handed over to the family tomorrow.
