SURAT (Gujarat) Sept 19: Viral Desai, the renowned environmentalist known as the “Greenman of India,” has once again transformed the festive occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi into a 10-day environmental awareness campaign. This year’s initiative, dubbed “Tree Ganesha,” has attracted over thousands of students from local schools and colleges.
The campaign’s primary goal is to educate young people about environmental conservation and the importance of sustainable living. Each participating student is presented with a sapling, symbolizing the commitment to planting trees and contributing to a greener future. This year’s theme, “Let’s Create Urban Forests,” underscores the urgent need for more green spaces in urban areas. Government agencies, including the Surat Police, Gujarat Forest Department, and the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, have officially joined forces with Viral Desai to support this initiative. By encouraging people to plant trees and adopt eco-friendly practices, the “Tree Ganesha” campaign is setting a positive example for others to follow.
