JAMMU, Sept 20: A group of PG and UG students of the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu as part of an educational tour, aimed at fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and hands-on learning.
The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the students to interact with leading academicians, researchers, and innovators at IIT Jammu.
During the visit, the SMVDU students were given a guided tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at IIT Jammu, including the advanced laboratories, research centers, and innovation hubs. They were introduced to ongoing research projects and technological innovations in various areas.
The students were accompanied by Dr Ratna Chandra (Associate Professor & Head School of Biotechnology), Dr Rakesh Kumar (Assistant Professor), Arvind Kumar Yadav (Assistant Professor), and Dr Indu Bhushan (Assistant Professor).
The students also had the opportunity to explore potential avenues for future collaborations, including internships, joint research projects, and workshops between SMVDU and IIT Jammu.
According to a handout, such exchanges are part of SMVDU’s ongoing efforts to provide students with exposure to top-tier institutions, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
The students also engaged in interactive sessions with IIT Jammu faculty members Dr Mithu Baidya (HoD, Bioscience and Bioengineering), Dr Vinay Sharma (Assistant Professor), and Dr Shirsha Bose (Assistant Professor). Students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive valuable advice from these distinguished faculty members, further igniting their passion for scientific research and innovation.
