JAMMU, Sept 17: “Karvaan -e-Shaheen” , a capacity building tour for 15 students and two professors of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, being conducted under the aegis of Romeo Force of Indian Army was flagged off from Romeo Force headquarters by the General Officer Commanding (Designate) Brig P S Bajwa.
The tour aims at exposing these participants to the advancements made by our country in various fields and to make aware of career opportunities in different fields.
The ten days tour to the coastal city which is a Naval base and an important hub for Fisheries Industry and has a state of the art Shipyard is scheduled from Sep 16 to 27. The General Officer Commanding interacted with the students and wished the participants all the success in their endeavours. He assured the participants that the tour would be a very learning and enriching experience wherein they would get an experience and feel of the developments and advancements being made by our nation in various fields. The students will also get an opportunity to visit the coastal city of Goa.
The tour to Goa has been planned deliberately to include a visit to the Naval base, Signals Training School, National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), wherein the students will get a chance to interact with faculty & students of the premium institute in addition to visiting their facilities and infrastructure.
The students will also visit Naval base and its infrastructure and facilities, Dockyard, Fisheries Industries. They would also be taken for local sightseeing and tourism activities including visit to Dona-Paula, Fort Aguada, Panjim Church, Old Goa, Basilica of Bom Jesus and a cruise on river Mandovi.
The students will have interaction with important dignitaries like Governor of Goa. The tour would involve many ‘firsts’ for most of the participants to include air travel. The university students and authorities are very excited to be a part of this learning experience which will help in motivating them to perform better in their academics and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation.
