Big Janmashtami celebration in Mathura-Vrindavan this month

MATHURA, Aug 3:A mega function has been planned in Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna, to celebrate the festival of Janmashtami.
For entire eight days starting August 17, the Uttar Pradesh government has drawn up a mega programme to attract international and national tourists and pilgrims.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has shown special interest in bringing Mathura and Vrindavan in the international tourist map, will inaugurate the programmes on August 17, state’s culture minister Choudhury Laxmi Narain here on Saturday.
“All the temples and religious places in Mathura and Vrindavan would be decorated with LED lights while cultural programmes would be held every day in all the eight days at the Ramlila ground by the national and international artistes,” the Minister said.
On Sunday, a high-level meeting would be held under the chairmanship of the culture minister here to finalise the programmes and other arrangements for the Krishna Janmotsav.
The Minister said during the eight days celebration, the tourists and pilgrims would enjoy the film show on Lord Krishna. A laser show will also be held.
The Mathura MP and Bollywood star Hema Malani is also likely to perform in the cultural programme besides artistes from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Mauritius and different states would display their programmes mostly on the Raas Lila of Lord Krishna.
Besides, the government is also holding competitions at the local level to engage the people of the twin cities by organising Jhakis of Lord Krishna’s birth, Radha-Krishna competition and decoration of the temples.
The UP Government has already been celebrating Deepawali in a big way in Ayodhya for the past two years.
