JAMMU, July 15: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and other senior officials, inaugurated the “Overseas Helpdesk” and “Anti-Drug Helpline” at the Conference Hall of DPL Poonch.
The ADGP emphasized the importance of addressing issues faced by citizens who have migrated abroad for education, livelihood, or other purposes.
The newly established helpdesk by RPHQ Rajouri aims to redress grievances faced by overseas citizens, including property disputes, legal queries, matrimonial disputes, and other crime-related matters.
Equipped with two helpline numbers (9103996008, 9103996009) and an email address (rppolice.helpdesk@jkpolice.gov.in), the helpdesk is operational 24×7, providing comprehensive support to overseas citizens.
This initiative aims to strengthen the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s (JKP) connection with the overseas community, ensuring their voices are heard and their issues resolved promptly.
Additionally, the event marked the inauguration of the “Anti-Drug Helpline,” which also operates 24×7. This helpline is intended to engage the general public in JKP’s fight against drug abuse.
A valuable booklet was distributed, detailing different types of drugs, their ingredients, signs and effects of drug abuse, reasons for drug use and a watchlist for parents and teachers.
The police urged the public to share any information regarding the illicit sale or purchase of drugs via SMS or WhatsApp. For Poonch district, the dedicated number is +91 9622003495, and for Rajouri district, it is +91 9596047100. The identity of informers will remain confidential.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Tejinder Singh, DIG RP Range; Ch Mohammad Yasin, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch; Yougal Kumar Manhas, SSP Poonch and other GOs of District Poonch. Also present were DySP Hqrs Rajouri, SDPOs of Nowshera and Manjakote, and all SHOs and Incharge PPs of District Poonch.
