JAMMU, Sept 21: AIIMS Jammu has swiftly established itself as a leader in healthcare, medical education, and research since its inception. Starting with just 50 MBBS students in 2020, the Institute has expanded to enroll 100 students in 2024, along with the launch of its BSc Nursing program.
In 2024, AIIMS Jammu introduced 45 Post Graduate seats across Medicine, Surgery, and Dentistry, and is set to offer Super Specialization courses (DM/MCh) by January 2025. The Institute offers an exceptional academic environment with advanced laboratories, 24/7 digital library access, and dedicated mentorship programs.
AIIMS Jammu’s research initiatives are equally impressive. It leads a multi-centric project across six AIIMS institutions, supported by Rs 25 crore in funding from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Currently, 81 research projects are underway, placing the institute at the forefront of healthcare innovation and research.
In clinical care, AIIMS Jammu serves 800-1,000 patients daily through its Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), and Emergency services. With a 100-bed capacity, plans are in place to expand to 250 beds within a month and ultimately to 750 beds within six months. AIIMS has implemented 24/7 lab services, a 3 Tesla MRI, and advanced diagnostic tools like a 128-slice CT scan and digital X-ray services. A digital Indoor Patient Navigation System is enhancing patient experience with real-time guidance, especially benefiting those with mobility or visual impairments.
The Institute is deeply committed to community outreach through telemedicine, on-ground camps, and digital platforms, ensuring its healthcare services reach even the remotest areas. Collaborations with institutions such as IIT, IIM, and international partners like the University of Alabama at Birmingham drive innovation and research.
AIIMS Jammu is also dedicated to sustainability, adopting green building practices, large-scale tree plantations, and solar energy systems. Recognized for its environmental initiatives, the institute was awarded “Best Project” at the 170th CPWD Annual Day. With a diverse workforce and a strong focus on gender equality, AIIMS Jammu is on its way to becoming a global healthcare leader.
