Alam, who served as the provincial president of the PC, had previously joined Sajad Lone’s party in March 2021 after leaving the PDP.
He told Excelsior that he is re-joining the PDP tomorrow during a function.
In a social media post last week, Alam announced his resignation from the PC. “Although it has been an incredible experience to be part of this esteemed party, the current circumstances require me to look beyond the horizon and address the concerns of my people, honoring the trust they have placed in me from the beginning,” he said.
Alam, who had joined the PDP after retiring from government service, was among the politicians detained on August 5, 2019, when the Central Government abrogated Articles 370 and 35A and reorganized Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories. He resigned from the PDP in March 2021 and is now set to rejoin.
Alam’s anticipated return to the PDP follows the earlier resignation of former MLA Nizamudin Bhat from the PC, marking the second departure from the party.
