SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Former Chief Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey visited Ahata Waqar, a day care and recreation centre located in Chanapora, Srinagar. This centre operates under the auspices of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar.
The event began on a thoughtful note with a poetry recitation by a student from Higher Secondary School Chanapora, capturing the essence of the day’s gathering. This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by Abdul Ganie Parray, the Chairman of Senior Citizens Council. The cultural significance of the occasion was further enriched by a moving poem on Ahata Waqar, presented by Abdul Rashid Qazi.
Addressing the event, Justice (Retd) focused on the urgent need to address various social evils, with a particular emphasis on drug abuse. Drawing from his extensive experience and dedication to social causes, he outlined practical strategies for combating this menace. He further emphasized the importance of community involvement in overcoming such challenges, offering both guidance and encouragement to the senior citizens and staff of Ahata Waqar for their ongoing efforts in this regard.
During his speech, Justice(Retd) Magrey acknowledged the concerns shared by the senior citizens regarding the centre and assured them of his continued support in addressing these issues. He also discussed various initiatives he has championed to tackle social evils, reinforcing his commitment to fostering a safer and healthier society.
Rohie Jan, teacher from Higher Secondary School Chanapora, addressed the participants about the menace of drug abuse, urging the community to come together and take an active role in combating this issue. Her motivational words resonated with the audience, inspiring them to contribute to the cause.
