JAMMU, Sept 25: Dr Vikas Sharma, former president of the Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA), has raised a question mark on rapid pace of recruitment process for key administrative posts in Jammu University notwithstanding enforcement of Modal Code of Conduct.
Talking to media persons, here today, he said that interviews are being conducted for positions such as Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Director of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), and Director of IT despite MCC by the Election Commission in view of ongoing Assembly elections ion J&K.
Dr Vikas alleged that several ineligible candidates have been shortlisted for the interviews, scheduled to be held on October 4-5, 2024. He questioned the motive of JU authorities behind this urgency violating the Model Code of Conduct even as the Higher Education Deptt of J&K has put on hold the contractual appointments of lecturers owing to the MCC.
“When, the J&G Govt can hold contractual appointments due to MCC then why JU authorities are hurriedly conducting interviews for permanent administrative posts, which are lying vacant for the last 20 years,” Dr Sharma asked.
He urged the Election Commission to take cognizance of the MCC violation by JU authorities as the efforts were being made to extend benefit to candidates clandestinely affiliated to a particular political party.
He alleged that some of the shortlisted candidates hold fraudulent PhD degrees as audit objections were raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) concerning their qualifications.
Dr Sharma warned JU authorities against such malpractices and demanded immediate cancellation of interview notification.
