ANANTNAG, Aug 24: In a recent move to safeguard public health, the Office of the Assistant Commissioner/ Designated Officer of Food Safety in Anantnag has issued a prohibition on the sale of ‘Protilab’ , a health supplement identified as unsafe.
The product in question is manufactured by M/s Vishaka Nutraceutical, located in Sonepat, Haryana.
The decision follows a report from the FICCI Research & Analysis Centre in New Delhi, which confirmed that Protilab (Batch No. VNFP-114) contained a Total Plate Count exceeding the permissible limit. This high bacterial count poses a potential health risk to consumers.
According to the Food Safety Officer in Larnoo, the unsafe quality of the supplement could lead to serious health implications if consumed. The Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, prohibits the manufacturing and sale of unsafe foods, reinforcing the importance of this action.
Sheikh Zameer Ahmad, the Designated Officer (Assistant Commissioner) for Food Safety in Anantnag, announced the ban, stating, “In the interest of public health and safety, the sale of Protilab in Anantnag district is prohibited until further notice.”
