JAMMU, Aug 29: Students from Government College for Women (GCW) Parade earned the third prize at Agrithon 2024, an esteemed competition hosted by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu. The event saw participation from various higher educational institutions across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Agrithon 2024 featured a comprehensive three-stage selection process, starting with over 200 Concept Notes. From these, 70 teams advanced to the second stage, ultimately narrowing down to 16 winning teams across four themes in the final round. GCW Parade’s “Design Your Degree” program, represented by Sehrish Altaf, Tarunpreet Kour, and Hari Priya, won under the theme “Innovation in Farm Mechanization, Digital Agriculture, and Automation” with their project “Affordable Humane Bee Venom Extraction.”
Guided by Dr. Vikas Dogra, Associate Professor of Zoology, and Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, the team received a Certificate of Appreciation, Trophy, and Rs 25,000 cash prize. Principal Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo and Dean Dr. Alpana Vohra praised the students and faculty for their dedication, emphasizing the importance of innovative, project-based learning. This achievement underscores GCW Parade’s commitment to fostering creativity and excellence in education.
