JAMMU, Sept 4: The 53rd National Sports Meet for girls organized by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) continued to captivate audiences on its second day as young athletes showcased exceptional skills in Hockey and Kabaddi. Held across two venues in Jammu, the event saw fierce competition among the participants.
At K.K. Hakku Stadium, the hockey matches witnessed dominant performances. In the Under-14 category, Chennai outclassed Delhi by 3-0 and defeated Mumbai by 2-0, while Jaipur overwhelmed Mumbai by 7-0 and later beat Delhi by 5-0. In the Under-17 matches, Lucknow secured a 3-1 win over Chennai, and Jaipur delivered an astounding 14-0 victory against Varanasi, alongside several other commanding performances.
Meanwhile, M A Stadium hosted the Kabaddi matches, which were equally thrilling. In the Under-14 category, Ernakulam narrowly edged out Ranchi by 22-18, and Raipur crushed Bhopal by 35-7. Jaipur and Delhi also emerged victorious in their matches, among others. The Under-17 matches were highlighted by Bhubaneswar’s crushing 57-28 victory over Patna and Gurugram’s 52-26 win against Raipur.
Deputy Commissioner of KVS, Nagendra Goyal and Assistant Commissioner Islam Khan reviewed the facilities at both venues and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. They commended the athletes for their dedication and the organizing team for ensuring a successful event. Proper transportation and medical facilities, including a 24-hour ambulance service, were also arranged for the safety and comfort of all participants. The meet continues to be a platform for young girls to exhibit their athletic talents, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and excellence.
