SRINAGAR, Sept 15: The Department of Community Medicine at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar organized a guest lecture today on “Evidence to Policy through Implementation Research.”
Dr. Ashoo Grover, Scientist-G and Head of the Delivery Research Division at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), delivered the lecture.
Attendees included faculty and resident doctors from GMC Srinagar, researchers from the Department of Health Research (ICMR, DHR, GoI), and staff from the Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU), Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU PHC Khag), and field research staff from the RATA of Community Medicine at GMC Srinagar.
Dr. Iffat Hassan, Principal and Dean of GMC Srinagar, commended the Department of Community Medicine for hosting such informative lectures and urged the faculty to prioritize research that benefits the community.
Dr. Grover, who oversees extramural research grants at ICMR, outlined the types of studies ICMR supports, focusing on the four research areas: Descriptive, Development, Discovery, and Delivery (4Ds).
She also detailed the four categories of extramural research grants provided by ICMR: Small Grants (up to two crores), Intermediate Grants, Central for Advancement of Research, and the National Health Research Program.
The lecture was coordinated by Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine at GMC Srinagar.
