JAMMU, Aug 22: Department of Pediatrics, GMC Jammu, in collaboration with Department of Zoology/Institute of Human Genetics, University of Jammu, organized a CME cum workshop on “Genetic Diagnosis of Common and Rare Genetic Disorders” under “Mission Program on Pediatric Rare Genetic Disorders”.
Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College Jammu, was the chief guest for this occasion while Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Jammu was the guest of honour.
Dr Ghanshyam Saini, Professor & HoD Pediatrics, GMC Jammu, mentioned the importance of genetic testing in the modern medicine in determining whether an individual has a genetic condition or may develop one in the future.
Dr Usha Dutta Co-Investigator, “Mission Program on Pediatric Rare Genetic Disorders”, CDFD Hyderabad, was the guest faculty. She delivered lecture on various types of genetic testing and their mechanism and indications.
The gathering was apprised that all the genetic testing are being conducted free of cost under the “Mission Program on Pediatric Rare Genetic Disorders” funded by DBT, Govt of India.
The program was attended by Professors Pediatrics: Dr Sanjeev Kumar Digra, Dr Ashu Jamwal, Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma, Dr Mohd Razaq; Associate Professors Pediatrics; Dr Anuj Bhatti, Dr Ravi Kumar Parihar, Dr Koushal Kumar.
Dr Parvinder Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology/Institute of Human Genetics, JU, delivered Dr Usha Dutta citation.
