JAMMU, Sept 22: The 20th North Zone Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists Conference (NZ-ISACON) was successfully organized by the Department of Anaesthesia, ICU & Pain Medicine at Government Medical College (GMC).
The event, held from 20th to 22nd September, saw the participation of over 500 aneesthesiologists, critical care specialists, and medical professionals from across India, including representatives from esteemed institutions such as PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS New Delhi, and SGPGI Lucknow, engaging in scientific deliberations.
The conference, themed “Mentorship: Developing, Guiding & Supporting,” provided a platform for leading experts, researchers, and practitioners to share cutting-edge research, clinical experiences, and discuss future trends in anaesthesia, critical care, and pain management.
Chief guest, Dr Ashutosh Gupta (Principal & Dean of GMC Jammu) inaugurated the conference. Prof Anita Vig, organizing chairman of the conference, presented welcome address.
Organizing secretary, Prof Rajesh Mahajan, led the conference proceedings, highlighting the need to embrace technological advancements while maintaining the profession’s core values and ethics. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of the organizing committee, including, Prof Anita Vig, Prof Anju Jamwal (scientific chairperson), Prof Smriti Gulati (chief advisor), Prof Madan Katoch (co-organizing secretary), Prof Ashwani Kumar (treasurer), Prof Anjali Mehta (paper & poster coordinator), and workshop coordinators, Dr Renu Wakhloo, Dr Naine Bhadrala, and Dr Ajay Gupta.
Their dedication was pivotal in ensuring the success of workshops that trained over 200 doctors in areas such as USG-guided regional anaesthesia, POCUS, labour analgesia, chronic pain management, neuro-monitoring, and brain ultrasound.
The academic and scientific programs saw active participation from several professionals, including Dr Robina Nazir, Dr Amit Manhas, Dr Arti Mahajan, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, Dr Shruti Gupta, Dr Updesh Kumar, Dr Neha Sharma, Dr Santosh Devi, Dr Jasmeen Chowdhery, Dr Ashufta Rasool Qazi, Dr Heena Gupta, Dr Kunal Sharma, Dr Rumani Ruku, Dr Loveleen Kour, Dr Heena Saini, Dr Rajdeep Kour, Dr Isha Gupta, Dr Priya Mattoo, Dr Abhilasha Gupta, Dr Rishu Parihar, Dr Ranika Devi Manhas, Dr Shipra Gupta, Dr Tanuja Chambyal, Dr Preeti Sharma and Dr Mehak Gul.
Over 90 research posters were presented, showcasing the latest advancements in anaesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine, with winners being recognized by the organizing team.
