Gupta urges LG to waive off water, electricity bills

JAMMU, Aug 29: J&K president of National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI), Rajesh Gupta on Saturday urged upon J&K Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to waive off water and electricity bills for next one year from March 2020 to March 2021 in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
In a statement Gupta asked the government to come up with concrete relief measures for a larger section of the society whose livelihood has been affected by the lockdown imposed by the authorities in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
NDPI chief said, on one hand such restrictions are need of the hour while on the other government should also take necessary steps to mitigate the sufferings of people affected by the lockdown.
He expressed concern over the plight of families whose livelihood has been hit by the restrictions and said that J&K has the potential not only to generate electricity to meet own needs but also to provide power to other parts of the country.
“The government must make arrangements to ensure that all households in J&K get 24×7 uninterrupted and free of cost electricity,” said Gupta.
