Sources in the party circles told the Excelsior that BJP National President J P Nadda and National General Secretary (Organization) B L Santosh will take meeting with the J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, Member of Parliament and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, MP Lok Sabha Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Ali Khatana and three General Secretaries in J&K BJP.
Significantly, sources added, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who was recently appointed as the Election Incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, will be present in the top level meeting.
Scheduled to be held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi at 8 pm on Thursday, sources said that upcoming elections are understood to be main agenda of the meeting.
Amid speculations that Assembly elections in J&K are unlikely to be held soon notwithstanding the Supreme Court directions for conducting the same by September this year, sources said that the BJP leadership may discuss different options.
While elaborating, sources said that the meet is likely to discuss the present political scenario in Jammu Kashmir and preparedness for the upcoming polls in the Union Territory where Local Body as well as Panchayat elections are also due besides Assembly polls.
Organizational elections are also on agenda of tomorrow’s meeting for a detailed discussion and a formal announcement for commencement of the process in this regard is likely to be made by J P Nadda during his scheduled visit to Jammu on July 6, sources informed.
Pertinent to mention that incumbent BJP national president and Union Health Minister J P Nadda is visiting Jammu on July 6 for addressing the BJP’s extended UT Executive Committee meeting.
According to the sources, the process for organizational elections is likely to commence with membership drive from July 15, which will be followed by election of Booth Presidents, Mandal Presidents, District Presidents and the J&K UT President, respectively.
However, the sources did not rule out the possibility of nomination of J&K BJP president before culmination of the entire process. The incumbent J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina has already completed his extended tenure.
Besides discussion on the elections, sources said that review of the party performance in the recently held Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir is also on agenda.
