JAMMU, Sept 12: A notorious fraudster of Hyderabad was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police from Dogra Chowk area here today.
Shaheensha Shareef, who was involved in multiple cases of cheating, fraud, and rape across Telangana and Odisha, was arrested by a party of Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Nowabad, Inspector Deepak Pathania during routine patrolling duty at Dogra Chowk area, a police official said.
According to him, the accused was moving suspiciously in the area and when he was asked to prove his identity, he failed.
Subsequently, he was taken into custody and during interrogation, the accused revealed his real identity, said the police official.
He said, later Jammu and Kashmir Police contacted Hyderbad authorities and uncovered that the accused was involved in 10 FIRs related to rape, cheating, fraud and criminal breach of trust in various police stations of Telangana and one FIR of cheating in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Following necessary legal procedures, the accused was handed over to the Hyderabad Police, added the police official.
