JAMMU, Aug 10: Panun Kashmir (PK) held a meeting of its Executive Committee here, today to discuss the historic decision of the Narendra Modi Government to erase the Article-370 and the reorganization of the State into two Union Territories.
The meeting was Chaired by its president Virender Raina and was also attended by the general secretary(Org.) Kamal Bagati, Upinder Koul, general secretary, Ashok Chrungoo, treasurer, Sameer Bhat, convenor, PK youth, Vimla Chrungoo secretary, DOPK, Sneh Ganhar, Ravi Punjabi, Sunil Dhar and Rajinder Razdan.
Virender Raina while addressing the meeting said that the abrogation of Article-370 is a huge event, the like of which one seldom witnesses in a lifetime. “We took time to hail this decision because the reverberations of the decision are yet to sink in. People rushed to react to the momentous event but we savoured in it’s ecstasy and were in a stupor over the impact this would have on the succeeding generations and the emerging brave new India. India has won and taken back Kashmir from the Jaws of terror. The leadership of Modi and Shah has taken out the legal and constitutional edifice of a theocratic regime in Kashmir that sustained and nurtured itself for more than seventy years in a secular India”.
Raina congratulated the BJP leadership for the landmark decision and said that such moments come but rarely in history when countries rise by the sheer genius of its leadership. He called the abrogation of Article-370 as a truly epoch making and a watershed event that would herald a renaissance in the country.
Virender Raina added that PK over the last 30 years and particularly for the last ten years played a critical role in creating a national consciousness against the impugned article and helped generate the narrative for its abrogation and the reorganization of the State.
In the coming days there is a need to engage with the BJP Government in order to take the struggle for Homeland in Kashmir forward and maintain unity in the ranks.
