KATHUA, Sept 14: One infant was killed while nine passengers were injured when a mini bus in which they were travelling from Dhar Dungo to Billawar in Kathua district skidded off the road this afternoon after travelling about two kilometres from Dhar Dungo.
The deceased infant has been identified as two year old Ankush, son of Darshan Kumar of Dhar Dungo while nine passengers suffered fractures. Among them eight were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua for treatment while one seriously injured lady was referred to GMC Jammu.
There were total 24 passengers in the matador including 4 children. The deceased infant was handed over to his parents for last rites after post-mortem at Sub District Hospital, Billawar. The Billawar police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard. Police said both conductor and driver were also injured in the accident.
As per reports the driver lost control on the steering with the result the vehicle skidded off the road. The injured were shifted to the Billawar hospital by the police with the help of locals and those with minor injuries were discharged after first aid. Among the nine passengers with fractures eight were referred to GMC Kathua and one having serious injuries was referred to GMC Jammu, police said.
