RAJOURI, Sept 14: The Inter-District Divisional Level Under-19 Girls Kabaddi Tournament commenced today at the Mini Stadium Sports Complex in Rajouri, with 10 districts from the Jammu Division competing. The two day tournament features 108 players and 20 in-charge contingents.
In a notable addition, all participants took part in a pledge as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, emphasizing the importance of voter awareness. This initiative aims to encourage informed voting and greater electoral participation by urging athletes to become ambassadors for voter awareness in their communities.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by District Information Officer Rajouri, Ashiq Malik, who officially opened the tournament. He was joined by DYSSO Rajouri, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of balancing sports with academic pursuits.
The results of the morning session were Jammu defeated Doda, Rajouri defeated Poonch, Kishtwar defeated Ramban and Udhampur defeated Samba.
The event will continue with the final matches and prize distribution tomorrow. Senior officials, including ZPEO Baljarallan, Wali Mohd, ZPEO Rajouri, Gulbir Singh, PEM Mohinder Pal, PEM Adris Ahmed Wani, and other staff, were present to support and oversee the tournament.
