Srinagar, Aug 28: The Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Srinagar today sentenced the Indian System of Medicine (ISM) doctor for two year imprisonment with penalty in impersonation and cheating case.
The 2nd Additional Munsiff (Judicial Magistrate 1st Class) Srinagar had convicted one Dr Zahoor Ahmad Tantray working in ISM Department yesterday for gathering the information from the department under different names.
The court while convicting the accused had reserved the quantum of sentence for commission of offences by the accused doctor and today announced the quantum of sentences.
The court awarded 1 year sentence and fine of Rs 25000 impersonation and 1 year sentence with Rs 25000 as penalty for cheating. Besides these sentences the court clarified that in case the accused fails to pay a penalty then he shall spend further 3 months for each offence. Both sentences shall run consecutively.
The court said that the accused shall serve the sentence in Central Jail Srinagar. Jail Authority has been directed to lodge the accused accordingly.
