JAMMU, Aug 2: Jatinder Singh, a promising footballer from Barwal, Kathua, has signed with HAL FC, Bengaluru, after a successful trial at the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited sports complex. Singh, who has already joined the team, is gearing up for the top-tier league in Bengaluru and the I-League 3rd Division.
Singh’s football journey began at FC United Kathua and progressed through Iqbal Sports and Novelty FC in Srinagar’s Kashmir Premier League. He later joined Param FC, Jammu, where his talent caught the eye of professional clubs outside J&K. Previously, he played for Oranje FC Mumbai in the Mumbai Premier League and I-League 3rd Division.
Arun Malhotra, a former international player, praised Singh’s achievement despite the lack of local competitive infrastructure, stating that Singh’s success highlights the potential of talented players from J&K. Malhotra urged support for such athletes to help them build better futures.
Arun Malhotra while speaking to Excelsior said, “Despite the lack of a JKFA, competitive matches, professional academies, or clubs in Jammu and Kashmir, talented players are still finding their way to success by competing outside their home State. Jatinder Singh’s story proves that with talent and determination, nothing can stop you. I urge everyone to unite in supporting these athletes and help them build a brighter future.”
Singh expressed his pride in becoming the first footballer from Kathua to reach this level and thanked Malhotra for his support in transitioning from amateur to professional football.
Jatinder Singh told Excelsior, “Being the first footballer from Kathua to reach this level is a tremendous honour. From being part of Oranje FC, Mumbai, to signing a one-year contract with HAL FC, Bengaluru, this journey has been incredible. I am grateful for the opportunities and support that have brought me here.”
Singh’s one-year contract with HAL FC marks a significant milestone in his career, demonstrating his commitment and skill in the sport. His story serves as an inspiration for other aspiring athletes from the region, proving that talent and determination can lead to success even in the face of challenges.
