JAMMU, Aug 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized training programme on Scientific Management of Dairy Animals at village Bhadyal Qazian of Suchetgarh block of Jammu which was attended by a number of farmers, including women and rural youths of the area.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid and Dr. Puneet Choudhary, Chief Scientist and Head KVK, Jammu of SKUAST-Jammu. The major objective of the programme was to train the participants on scientific dairy farming in order to make it a profitable enterprise.
Dr. Imran Ahmad Ganai, Assistant Professor, Division of Animal Nutrition (SKUAST-J) welcomed the participants for attending the training programme and encouraged them to adopt scientific dairy farming for more farm returns. He narrated that the scientific dairy farming can transform the rural areas by raising the socio-economic conditions of the rural women.
During this training, the trainees were given practical as well as theoretical knowledge about dairy farm management, feeding of dairy animals in scientific way, layout and planning of various types of dairy sheds, taking green fodder throughout the year, silage making, breeding planning and heat synchronization for efficient use of farm labour and resources & prevention, control and treatment of various diseases of dairy animals. The purpose of the programme was to create awareness for vaccination in dairy animals, feed management and balance diet to dairy animals.
The participants thanked the KVK for organizing such an innovative programme. During the programme progressive farmers, Panchs and Sarpanch of the area also shared their experiences. The progamme concluded with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Poonam Abrol, Programme Assistant KVK, Jammu.
