RAMBAN, Apr 24: Chanderkote Police in its war against drugs arrested a man for illegally cultivating opium and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Vijay Choudhary and assisted by PSI Ankush Bhau conducted raid in Peerah area and arrested a person for cultivation opium and poppy straw on private land.
The arrested person has been identified as Hakikat Singh, son of Suram Chand, a resident of Peerah, District Ramban.
The entire operation was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class Chanderkote Saif-Ullah Shah and supervision of Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
On the direction of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, the opium and poppy straw cultivation was destroyed immediately and a case under FIR Number 42/2021 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act has been registered against the arrested person at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
Ramban Police has again made an appeal to the public to support police in its war against drugs and provide information to the nearest police station.
