POONCH, Aug 18: Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, visited the Poonch Taekwondo Academy during his tour of district Poonch. During his visit, he interacted with the exceptional Taekwondo girls from the Poonch Taekwondo Club, who have brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir by winning medals at national-level championships.
In his address, Chadha expressed his admiration for the athletes’ dedication and success, offering his best wishes on behalf of the Ministry. He encouraged the girls to continue striving for excellence and informed them about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, under the Department of Social Welfare, which they can benefit from.
Rajinder Singh, a Taekwondo coach from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the national achievements of the Poonch Taekwondo players. The event also featured an impressive display of Taekwondo bouts by the local girls.
The visit was attended by notable figures, including Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt (DSWO), Khalid Wafa (P.O ICDS), Adil Shabir (AD Food and Supply), Sahil Hans (Programme Officer, Mission Vatsalya), Priyanka Singh (President, District Poonch Taekwondo Association), Priya Raina (District Mission Coordinator, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women), and Sdrn. Taranpreet Kour (General Secretary, District Poonch Taekwondo Association).
