Monumental National Flag hoisted at Binnaguri Military Station in West Bengal

SILIGIRI, Oct 21 : A grand National Flag of size of 20 feet x 30 feet was hoisted at the Binnaguri Military Station in West Bengal’s bordering northern district of Jalpaiguri.

The tri-colour is flying atop a monumental flagpole measuring 108 foot, which is installed at the main gate of Binnaguri military station cantonment town, a Defence release said on Saturday.

The installation of the flag has been carried out by the Indian Army & Flag Foundation of India.

A grand function was organised during the occasion on Friday which witnessed overwhelming response from Ex-servicemen, school children, civil dignitaries & local population.

The installation of the Flag at Binnaguri military station will motivate and remind locals of their duties towards nation building, an Army official said.

This function also coincided with National Solidarity Day. The formation of Indian Army which captured Bogra, Hilli & Rangpur towns in then East Pakistan during 1971 Indo-Pak War, is also located at Binnaguri.

” The National Flag has been dedicated to our valiant soldiers who laid their lives defending our nation.

This National flag will be a symbol of unity, strength and solidarity for all,” the release said. (UNI)
