JAMMU, Sept 16: Movement Kalki has raised concerns about two serious cases in Jammu, calling for swift action from authorities to ensure justice for the victims.
Advocate Sumeshwar Kohli, representing the organization, highlighted a case involving a minor girl who was allegedly lured into a relationship by a youth under false pretenses.
According to him, the 8th-grade student was taken outside Jammu and Kashmir and pressurized to change her personal beliefs.
Although an FIR has been filed under Sections 363 and 376 of the IPC, Kohli said the police are yet to fully investigate the case.
Movement Kalki’s legal team has requested a more thorough investigation to identify others involved in pressurising the girl.
In another case, the organization has taken up the cause of a 72-year-old widow who is being physically and mentally abused by her son, daughter-in-law and grandson.
According to the organization, the accused are allegedly coercing her to transfer her inherited property to them.
Despite complaints to local police, Movement Kalki said the matter has been dismissed as a civil issue.
The organization has insisted that the case should be treated under criminal law, citing the Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
Meanwhile, the organization has sought support from the media in highlighting the issues.
