SRINAGAR, July 15: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather, today presided over the second meeting of the party’s Manifesto Committee at the party headquarters, Nawa—e-Subha.
Rather, who heads the 15-member committee, led the discussions focused on meticulously analyzing the plethora of public suggestions regarding the manifesto.
A statement said that thousands of emails, messages, and letters were reviewed by the committee.
Expressing gratitude for the public’s active participation, the committee assured that all viable suggestions would be integrated into the final document.
During the eight-hour discussion, the committee expressed grave concerns about the amendments to the Reorganisation Act of 2019 and reaffirmed its commitment to pursue the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
The committee also voiced apprehensions about the challenges facing Kashmir’s horticulture industry, particularly the apple sector, and pledged support to orchardists in their ongoing protests.
They urged the LG administration to prioritize vehicles carrying fruits and vegetables on the National Highway to alleviate the concerns of fruit growers and transporters.
Considering the economic dependence of the Valley’s population on the fruit industry, the committee emphasized the need for authorities to guarantee the seamless passage of these trucks.
