HYDERABAD, Nov 28: A Penumbral (that is only the partial shadow of the Moon falls on the Earth) Lunar Eclipse will take place on Monday.
In a release here on Saturday, G P Birla Observatory and Astronomical Research Centre Director Dr B G Sidharth said, this is not a spectacular sight.
In Hyderabad, the Eclipse will begin around 1300 hours in the afternoon reaching it’s maximum at 1513 hours and ends at 1726 hours.
This eclipse is not visible from India.
The penumbral magnitude of the eclipse is 0.85. The total duration of the eclipse is about 4 hours, 21 minutes.
A Penumbral Eclipse occurs when Earth’s shadow falls on the moon’s face and hence is not a very noticeable sight.
This is the last penumbral lunar eclipse of 2020.
Residents of North and South America, Australia, and parts of Asia can see about 82 per cent of the Full Moon turn a shade darker during the maximum phase of this eclipse, Dr Sidharth added. (UNI)
